Caroline Barrett's Artist in Residence program at Brighton Grammar School focused on the theme of ‘Biodiversity in Bayside’ - fostering appreciation and connection with the local area of Bayside’s natural environment.Caroline worked with Year 3 students to encourage creative study of plants, birds and animals, nurturing appreciation of our local and global environment. The concept brought arts and science together in a STEAM collaboration. As Artist in Residence, Caroline worked together with Year 3 students, Art Teachers Mandy Foulds and Michael Hawkins, and Parents' Group the Friends of Art, to create ‘legacy artworks’ as the centrepiece of the residency contribution to the school. The students enjoyed diving into the creation of printed works – firstly experimenting with observational drawing and gel printing, then advancing to stencil making and pochoir printing using the school’s printing press.
