Sydney Succulents are part of my series of pochoir prints inspired by Australia's rich network of botanic gardens.
I visited the Succulent Garden at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney in late winter, when succulent blooms are at their peak. With the help of Ignacio Czajkowski from the Living Collections and Records team, I explored the 250 plant species. Succulents are tough beauties - in the face of climate challenges, succulents are important for their exceptional drought tolerance, air-purifying abilities, and role in sustainable gardening.
Succulent shapes are weird, wonderful and perfect for creating pochoir prints. I cut and inked stencils and layered them on an inked base plate to make unique patterns. I love the movement, depth and unpredictability of this process.
